I' n'tait pon d'hait d'êt' côné d'même d'un chèr
Nan-dgia, i' n'chèrchait pon chenna
I' dêmuchîtent lé Chef Minnistre à Saint Mathie
"Nos v'chîn au ché d'vot' us," qu'i' lî m'nichîtent

Tale of the Deer, the Shrimp and the Chief Minister

#twiterature for International Social Media Day for Small Languages

(any resemblance to any Chief Minister, living or dead, is purely coincidental)
Once upon a time there was a deer who got it into his head to look for the Chief Minister
This deer looked here and there
The thing is, the Chief Minister absolutely didn't want to be buttonholed by this deer
He already had loads of people phoning hime from morning till evening
He was really fed up of all this phoning from Senators, Deputies and Connétables
Not to mention the pack of journalists who pestered him night and day
He wasn't keen on being phoned/butted with antlers by a deer
No, he wasn't looking for that
The deer infiltrated the States Chamber and searched through it
What a rummage! Everything was topsy-turvy!
But the Chief Minister had scarpered
The Chief Minister went off to hide in La Chêve Rue in Saint Mary
The deer wouldn't look again for him in that place
One wouldn't have to stir up trouble in the back of beyond
The deer however was determined and went off to the beach
There was a shrimp building up there a sandcastle
The deer charged her with addressing these words to the Chief Minister:
"Will deer and shrimp receive more money?"
"The thing is that life is too expensive now!"
The shrimp and the deer went off to look for the Chief Minister
They discovered the Chief Minister in Saint Mary
"Here we are on your doorstep," they threatened him
"And we'll bed down here until you share our opinion!"
The Chief Minister was shocked at being buttonholed in this way by a deer and a shrimp
Time past such impertinent people would have been put in the stocks
But he said that there'd definitely be some shillings in the States' savings
And the deer and the shrimp each received five shillings
What! Shillings are no longer worth much!
The Chief Minister had cooked the books
Moral: If it's the Chief Minister who's in charge, deer and shrimp will have a big failure
